J.D. Grice Sr., 94, of Parkdale, died Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Mr. Grice was a native and lifelong resident of Parkdale. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. Mr. Grice was a farmer and a member of the Parkdale United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting for arrowheads, doing electrical and plumbing work and working on the Parkdale United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Alma Morehead Grice, two brothers, Grayson Grice and James Grice and two sisters, Lillian Murdock and Alma Gertrude Powell. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Virginia Edwards Grice; three sons, John D. Grice Jr. and wife, Kathleen, of Parkdale, Bill Grice and wife, Vicki, of Dermott, Randy Grice and wife, Suzanne, of Maumelle, three daughters, Linda Tullos and husband, Joe, of Wilmot, Doris Spurlock and husband, Marvin, of Crossett and Gale Scott and husband, Tom, of Little Rock; a sister, Corine Powell of Pine Bluff; a brother, Sam Grice and wife, Elenore, of Reading, Vermont; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the Parkdale United Methodist Church with Pastor Chyrl Slocum and Bro. John Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Parkdale Cemetery. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Samuel Grice, Chad Grice, Ben Tullos, Dan Tullos, Cory Scott, Zeb Scott, Mason Grice, Blake McGilton and Cole McGilton. Memorials may be made to the Parkdale United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 34, Parkdale, Ark. 71661. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg, Arkansas.
