Doyle J. Currington Jr.

Doyle J. Currington Jr., 82, of White Hall, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019. He was born October 29, 1936 at Davis Hospital in Pine Bluff to the late Doyle J. Sr. and Mable Horne Currington. Doyle was reared and educated in Pine Bluff having attended Dollarway, then graduating from Pine Bluff High School. He went on to serve in the US Army, and was stationed in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall. He was very musically inclined, and even turned down the chance to tour with Elvis Presley. He went back to school, and graduated from UAM, then went to work at the Pine Bluff Arsenal and later retiring as Chief of Production Control and Support. He was associated with First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and spent the last 15 years working in his yard and in his garden. Also preceding him in death were his stepmother, Selma Currington; sister, Doris Mize; and two nieces, Lida Mize and Lisa Pearcy. Doyle is survived by his wife, Catherine Moss Currington, whom he married March 26, 1977; brother-in-law, Gerald Moss; and nieces and nephews, Rena Thompson, Anita Spencer, James Daniels, Misty Burch, and Jason Moss. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Robinson-Fuller White Hall Chapel with Rev. Michael Suttle officiating. Burial will be in Black Cemetery in Cleveland County.
