Jeane Blevins died on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019, in Bella Vista, Ark. It was Jeane's wish to not have a funeral or memorial service. She was born August 3, 1948, in Marlow, Okla., to H.T. and Virginia Owens. She was the oldest of three children and she loved her Daddy. Jeane grew up in Cement, Okla., then moved to Mooreland, Okla. Jeane graduated High School in 1966 as Salutatorian with State Honor Society recognition, and she received a scholarship to Oklahoma State University. Jeane prided herself on academics and attendance throughout her primary and secondary education, yet also found time to be active in Drama and participated in several plays. While at Oklahoma State University, Jeane married Greg Blevins and had Jason. Although Jeane and Greg divorced, they remained friends over the years. In 1970, Jeane earned a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in English from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma then, in 1979, she completed a Masters in Education with a specialization in counseling. Jeane began her teaching career in Apache, Okla., and then moved to Lawton, Okla., where she taught subjects such as Literature, English, Newspaper, and Yearbook. She provided a fun, safe environment for young adults to learn. In 1986, Jeane and Roy Byrd began a 25+ year relationship. They went on adventures all over the state of Oklahoma, particularly during the time Roy was active in Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association. As hobbies, Jeane also obtained her real estate license and studied accounting. In 2000, Jeane was forced to retire early from teaching at Tomlinson Junior High School in Lawton due to complications with her third bout with cancer. In 2017, she moved to Bella Vista, Ark., to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law, so she could spend more time with them. She liked living in Northwest Arkansas where she could go on trips to Branson, Mo., visit craft fairs, and enjoy a wide variety of shopping and restaurants. Jeane was known to be unassuming, organized, detail oriented and dependable. She lived her life as a Christian that could always be counted on to help a friend in need, many times tirelessly going above and beyond for loved ones. She loved her family, books, and her dogs. Jeane enjoyed decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, yet she did not like cold weather. During warm sunny weather, you could usually find Jeane sitting outside soaking up the sun and appreciating God's beautiful flowers, plants and creatures. She is survived by her son Jason and his wife Cherie'; her brother Hank Owen, his wife Debbie; nephews Kaleb, Joshua and Mathew Owens, Anadarko; her sister Dawne Massey; brother-in-law Don of Elgin; niece Aubrey Massey of Tulsa and nephew Andrew Massey of Stillwater. She was preceded in death by her parents H.T. and Virginia. Donations of any amount may be made in her memory to Circle of Life Hospice via their webpage at https://nwacircleoflife.com/donatesupport/.
