The Rev. Dr. EYVONNE HUDSON WHITMAN, born August 13, 1952, of Little Rock, departed this life on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga. Dr. Whitman, daughter of Isaac N. Hudson and the late Levester Harper Hudson, graduated from LRCH in 1970. She earned her Associates of Arts Degree in 1972 from Shorter College and completed degree requirements in 1974 from Capital City Business College, Little Rock, Ark. Upon entering the ministry, she attended and graduated from Turner Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity after which she matriculated through United Seminary and earned a Doctoral of Ministry Degree and served as a Pastor. Upon her death she served as Presiding Elder of the North Augusta District of the Augusta Annual Conference under her Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Reginald Jackson of the 6th District AME Church. Dr. Whitman was preceded in death by her mother, Levester Harper Hudson, her sister, Pamela Hudson White and her only child, Raymond Christopher Watts. She will be truly missed by her husband, Robert Whitman; her father, Isaac N. Hudson, Sr.; sister, Nannette Hudson Akins; her brother and sister-in-love, Drs. Isaac and Mary Hudson; dedicated and devoted friends, Sandy Stargell, Hilda J. Poindexter, Dr. Angela D. Washington; Goddaughters, Rev.Tynisha C. Drennon and LaTarsha Mills McKie; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. A Service of Celebration will be held in Atlanta, Ga., Thursday, April 4 at 11 a.m., St. Mark AME Church, 3605 Campbellton Road, SW, Atlanta, Ga. Services entrusted to Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, Decatur, Ga. Visitation: Friday, April 5 at Union AME Church in Little Rock, Ark. from 1-7 p.m. Family hour is 6-7 p.m. at the church. Graveside service is Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m., Haven of Rest Cemetery, Little Rock, Ark., Twelfth St. Services entrusted to Watson-Northcrest Funeral Home, North Little Rock, Ark. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that tax deductible contributions be sent to Turner Theological Seminary, 702 Martin Luther King, Jr Drive, SW Atlanta, Ga. 30314 for The Eyvonne Whitman Scholarship Fund.
