Imogene (Jean) Ruth Harris Vogelgesang, 94, of Little Rock passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019. She was born in Saline County, Ark. on April 1, 1925 to William Jeff and Esther Ruth (McCray) Harris. Imogene grew up in Little Rock and had oft-told memories of growing up in Cammack Village, attending Little Rock High School, and living at the end of the streetcar line. She could point out virtually every change made in the Little Rock landscape since she was born. Imogene had an insatiable love for music and dance, participating in line dancing groups well into her 90s. She continued to remain sharp as a tack in her later years, and was an encyclopedia of quotes and long-forgotten idioms and expressions. Imogene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved being with her great-grandchildren. Imogene was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. The church meant so much to her. She was always happy to see her friends there. She loved to dance, especially line-dancing. She also loved gardening and playing games. When her nieces came to town, they would go on shopping sprees for hours and have a blast. She worked at the Pulaski County Cooperative Extension Office for many years and enjoyed it immensely. Her survivors include: brother, Edward Harris (Dorene); grandson, Bentley "Ben" James Vogelgesang (Kelley); great-grandchildren, Augustus (Gus) James and Anna Barrett Vogelgesang; nieces, Shirley Button, Brenda Cash, Lisa Schmerold, Diana Bloomfield, Arleta Power, and Mary Lou Suitt, and nephews, Mike Vogelgesang and Maynard Vogelgesang. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William "Bill" G. Vogelgesang; brother, James W. Harris; sister, Dorothy Cash; son, James (Jim) Vogelgesang, and grandson, Barrett (Barry) Vogelgesang. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1st at Little Rock Funeral Home at John Barrow and I-630. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2nd at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, with the Reverend Jeff Price officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4501 Rahling Rd., Little Rock, Ark. 72223. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, Ark. 72223 (501) 224-2200. Mrs. Vogelgesang's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
