John Mark Hooker, 58, of Maumelle went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2019. He was born in Memphis, TN on Aug. 8, 1960 to Clyde and Mary Louise Hooker. He is preceded in death by his brother, David Hooker. He is survived by his parents Clyde and Mary Louise of Dallas, Texas; sister, Amy (John) Boykin of Plano, Texas; brother David Peterson of Benton; wife Deanne Hooker of Maumelle; daughters, Erin (Greg) Shields of Benton, Shelby (David) Van Denack of Little Rock, and Tabitha (Rob) Chastain of Bryant; son, Trevor Wilson; his loving four legged children; 10 grandsons, Blake, Cole, and Austin Shields, Hayden, Hunter, Brennan, and Bryce Wilson, Aiden, Allen, and Daniel Chastain; three granddaughters, Brielle Wilson, Julianne and Kiah Chastain; several nieces and nephews and three grand-doggies Harley Shields, Gideon and Ginny Van Denack. Mark was a volunteer firefighter/EMT for Caddo Valley FD and EMT for ProMed Arkadelphia. He worked 28 years for the State of Arkansas with the Health Dept., Bio-terrorism, Radiation Control, and finally Ark. Dept. Emergency Mgmt. (ADEM). He loved to play guitar and write music. He was an avid storm chaser and ham-radio operator. He also had a huge love for his dogs that were rescued from the Maumelle Animal Shelter. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Christ Church of Central Arkansas, 9732 Maumelle Blvd, Maumelle. Visitation 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019 at the church.
