John William "Bill" Green, age 84, of Pine Bluff and Tucker, Ark. and Lampasas, Texas passed away Friday, April 26, 2019. Bill had a very diverse work life and was a "Jack of all trades". From his early adult employment at Arkansas Power and Light Company, he later became an independent distributor for Borden Dairy for a number of years. For over 10 years, he was the owner and operator of G and H Freight Company in Harrison, Ark. He returned to the Pine Bluff area in 1990 and opened The Axle Shop on West 6th Avenue.
From his home on the Arkansas River near Tucker, he began doing the work which provided him with the most enjoyment and satisfaction: building boat docks along the river. He was able to use his diverse skills of woodworking, welding, and natural engineering abilities to build docks where people could have enjoyable times. Bill and Sue were active members of Plum Bayou Baptist Church at Wright before to Lampasas, Texas to be near his daughter and grandchildren in 2013.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sue Hughes Green, whom he married on January 5, 1962; two daughters, Lori Green Ramsey and husband, Brent and Sharron Green Doherty and husband, Brian; four granddaughters, Emily Cottle and husband, Chance, Erin Ramsey, Celia Doherty, and Anabella Doherty; a great-grandson, Everett Cottle; a sister, Peggy Green Stiles; along with many other loving family and friends.
Bill's funeral service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019, 10 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel in Pine Bluff. Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Please visit FullerFunerals.com for online condolences.
