Herbert Austin Williams
of Little Rock, AR, 1926 - 2019

Herbert Austin Williams, 92, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2019. He was born on December 29, 1926 in Batesville, Arkansas, to the late Herbert and Lillie Williams.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia; brothers, Lloyd Williams and Roscoe Williams; a sister, Leah Weatherford; and son-in-law, Kenny Shipe. Herb is survived by his son, Gary Williams (Jane) and his daughters, Beverly Graham (Gary) and Nancy Shipe. Also left to cherish his memory are four granddaughters, Ashley Whitten, Christy (Aaron) Watson, Molly Williams, Emily Williams; a great- grandson, Caleb Austin Whitten; and two sisters, Dorothy Cook and Ruth Hutcherson. His greatest joy in life was his family and he loved them dearly.
After attending Batesville High School, Herb served in the U.S. Navy during WWII; then worked for Exxon for 36 years (without a sick day) before retiring in 1983. After a year of retirement, he started his second career working almost 20 years for the State of Arkansas. He was a faithful Christian and a member of Faith United Methodist Church, formerly Markham UMC, since 1965. Over the years, Herb served on several committees, was a member of the Aquila-Priscilla Class and volunteered in numerous areas at Faith. He especially enjoyed playing dominoes at church every Wednesday.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway. Honorary pallbearers: Harold Bristow, Jeannie Smith and the Faith Domino Group. A visitation will follow the service in the Garden Room.
