Agnes June Young

Agnes June Young, age 95, of Rye, Ark., passed away Friday, May 10, 2019, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. She was born November 23, 1923, in Rye, Ark., a daughter of the late Robert R. Young and Menril Lee Reynolds Young. After graduating from Woodlawn High School in 1942, as the valedictorian of her class, Agnes attended the Draughon School of Business in Little Rock. After passing the Civil Service Exam in early 1943, she went to Washington D.C., for a Civil Service job, but eventually joined the Army as a WAC in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After the War, she worked and retired from the General Services Administration in Washington D.C. and was proud of her 36 years of service to her country. Even though Agnes was never married, she loved her family and many times provided for her siblings and their children, just like they were her own and still will continue to do so even in death. She was preceded in death by her sisters LaVetra Young, Loree Young, Geneva Young, Jeanette Young, Martha Parker, and brothers Maurice Young, Johnny Young, Ben Young, Robert Young, and a great-niece Elizabeth Parker. Survivors are 13 nieces and nephews, 19 great-nieces and nephews, and 30 great-great-nieces and nephews. Sisters-in-law, Helen Young of North Little Rock, Ark., Peggy Young of Rye, Ark., and several cousins across the country. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Union Cemetery in Rye, Ark., with Rev. Charles Woolley officiating. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Union United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Frazer's Funeral Home.
