Donald James Gill, 89, of Little Rock, passed away May 11, 2019. Mr. Gill was born July 19, 1929 in Elwood, Indiana to Leo and Lottie Gill. He was retired from IBM and a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Mr. Gill is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Floyd Gill, Robert Gill, and sister, Dortha Kratz. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Reta and their children, Tim Gill, Robin (Mike) Philpot, Tracy (Alison) Gill, and Terry (Tamara) Gill; eleven grandchildren Zachary Gill, Sara Anne Gill, Garrett (Bethany) Philpot, Chase Philpot, Dalton Philpot, Carissa Gill, Bryce Gill, Reagan (Henry) Compton, Morgan Gill, Rhett Gill, and Jackson Gill; and great-granddaughter, Bonnie Rae Philpot. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul (Peggy) Gill and Harold Gill, sisters, Esther Hipes, Elnora Gill, and Sharon (Murvel) Amsbury, along with many nephews and nieces. Mr. Gill served in the U.S. Air Force where he was trained in electronics. Later he worked and retired from International Business Machines as a field engineer specializing in computer maintenance. Since 1994 he and his wife made Little Rock their home. Mr. Gill had a true servant's heart and volunteered for various organizations including Fort Hill Christian Camp, Indian Guides, FISH, and Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. His greatest joy was helping his family and others. He was a loving father and outstanding grandfather and great-grandfather. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Roller-Chenal in Little Rock. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Roller-Chenal. A private burial will be held at the V.A. cemetery in North Little Rock. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Morrilton Children's Home.
