Earla Kay Dillion

Earla Kay Dillion, age 65, of Tichnor, passed away peacefully on Sunday,May 12, 2019, in Pine Bluff. She was born to Earlene and Vogene Connor of Tichnor. She was active in the Arkansas High School Rodeo Assc. and was crowned queen of the DeWitt Round-up Club before graduating from Gillett High School. After graduation she worked at the shoe factory in DeWitt, Matthews Service Station in Gillett and began training cutting horses, which led her to relocate herself and her son to Mississippi in 1986. She continued to train horses, owned two bars and later worked on catfish farms, eventually becoming manager. She moved back to Arkansas County in 2007 to help her parents, and also worked at Alco in DeWitt and Wild Goose Corner Store near Merrisach Lake. Earla Kay was a true country girl and loved being outside every chance she could. She was a strong figure in her family and was warm and welcoming to all she met. She will be truly missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Earlene Fox Connor and father, Vogene Connor of Tichnor. She is survived by her son, Darwin Keith Dillion ofLos Angeles, step-daughter, Tammy Dillion of Oregon, sisters, Sis Connor of Pine Bluff and Karen Mills of Crosset, niece, Crystal Haney of Pine Bluff and nephews, Kelly Haney of Greenbriar and Chastin and Connor Mills of DeWitt. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 5 p.m. at Essex Funeral Home Chapel in DeWitt. Family visitation will be held immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in her name to DeWitt Cemetery Fund, Acres of Help or the American Cancer Society.
