Eliza E. Van Cleve

Eliza E. Van Cleve of Sherwood passed away Sunday, May 12th at the age of 97. She was born in Pulaski County to parents James and Grace Beall. A lifelong resident of Arkansas, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone until her retirement. Eliza loved all things that sparkle, fresh strawberries and feeding the hummingbirds. She especially loved to entertain friends and family, gardening and sewing. Eliza is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, David Beall and Denzal Beall; sisters, Pearl I. Johnson and Hattie McMahen; her beloved husband, John Van Cleve and daughter, Johny Leah Van Cleve. She is survived by her son, Ralph Harrison Van Cleve and daughter, Iree Van Cleve Elkins; grandchildren, Vanessa V. Hawkins, Vonda K. Rainey, Byron C. Van Cleve II, Emmaline Van Cleve, Ralph Van Cleve II and Jet Nacole Van Cleve; great-grandchildren, Sara Grace Hawkins, Leah Hawkins, Rachael Rainey, Ryan Rainey, Reyli Van Cleve, Emily Valdez Van Cleve and June E. Van Cleve along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Her family is rejoicing that she is now resting peacefully in the care of the Lord. A memorial service celebrating Eliza's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 16th at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 8300 Kanis Rd., Little Rock with the Reverend Robert Cook officiating.
