Ernestine Marie Evans was born September 23, 1957, (61). She departed this life Thursday, May 9, 2019. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of 33 years Roger Evans, two sons, Jonathan Evans (Kasi) of Rockville, Maryland and Philip Evans of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Two sisters, Lillie Jenkins-Carter of Little Rock and Geanice Hunter of Lonoke. Her mother, Betty Hampton, grandmother, Florence Jenkins and grandfather, John Jenkins preceded her in death. Roger and Ernie were married on March 21, 1986. She came into a saving faith with Jesus Christ at Gumwood Baptist Church in Keo, Arkansas. She was active at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (Usher Board and Sunday School Teacher), later attended First Baptist Church Highland Park (Sunday School Teacher, Drama Department Productions [wrote Resurrection Play]), and Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church (Sunday School Teacher, Council of a Christian Education Chair, and Organized first youth explosion). She was employed at Farmers Insurance for 35 years. She loved her family and enjoyed helping others, cooking big dinners and fellowshipping with family and friends. Her signature dinner was always on Christmas Eve each year. She loved reading and sharing the word of God and was a dedicated member of BSF (Bible Study Fellowship International). After retirement she substitute taught at Crystal Hill Elementary Magnet School and Pine Forest Elementary School and began working with Dr. Charity Smith in an after school tutoring program. She is also survived by 10 nieces, seven nephews, a host of cousins, and friends. Funeral will occur on Thursday May 16th, 2019 at 11am at Eighth Street Missionary Baptist Church 901 S.A. Jones Drive North Little Rock, Arkansas (Pastor Jameel Wesley). Visitation will take place in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will occur at 1pm at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church-Ernestine Evans Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 13257, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72113.
