Helen Jane Mowrer

Helen Jane Mowrer, 84, gained her heavenly wings Sunday, May 12, 2019. She was born to William T. and Zelma Clare Wright on March 9, 1935 in Dover Arkansas. She was one of 12 children. Helen and her late husband, John, moved to Searcy where they opened three Starlite Donut Shops starting in 1972. She then worked at JC Penney's in the jewelry department until her retirement in 2005. She was a beloved member of the Landmark Baptist Church. Helen loved traveling, gardening, but most of all, her family. She is survived by her children: Kathy Pettus (Gary), Michael Mowrer (Lori), Sandy Matthews (Jay), and Nancy Green (Marty); grandchildren: Shelly Jones (Chris), Rachel Wilson (Ben), Shana Stovall, Autumn Swain (Corby), Jacob Mowrer (Lindsey), Megan Stokes (Will), Jeremiah Matthews, Joshua Green (Erin), and Jenny Wright (Ty); thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; siblings: Euel, Bill, Jery, Sue, Bobbie, Willene, Carla, Linda, and Judy; also, John's sister, Ann. She is proceeded in death by her parents, loving husband John, her beloved grandson Jason, sister Betty, brother Ernie and John's sister, Marion. We would like to say a special thank you to Betty Foster who lovingly cared for our mother during her time of illness. Visitation will start at 12 noon with funeral starting at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Landmark Baptist Church and interment will follow at Gum Springs Cemetery.
