George Rodgers Harris, age 86, of Calmer, Ark., passed away May 16, 2019 in Little Rock, Ark., after a lengthy illness. He was born October 30, 1932, in Randall, Ark., to the parents of Ethel Rodgers Harris and Edward Harris. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict stationed in Jacksonville, Ark., Greenville, Miss., and Thule Greenland. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Mill Creek Masonic Lodge #178, Scottish Rite, Sahara Shrine Temple, and Pine Bluff Chapter USABDA. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eloise Jones Harris of Little Rock and two daughters, Rhonda Reilly (Jim), Bonnerdale, Ark., and Carmen Tucker (Charles), Rye, Ark., a sister, Almarieda Hyatt, Pine Bluff, Ark., 4 grandchildren: Allison White, Travis Reilly, Lisa Davis, Kacy Johnson; and 10 great grandchildren. Rodgers was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth Edward Harris. He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Calmer. After military service he worked in Pine Bluff for City Electric and International Paper. Funeral services: 2 p.m. Monday, May 20 at Enon Missionary Baptist Church.
