Jamie Lynn Kapella-Smith, 42, passed away May 19th, 2019, at St. Vincent hospital. She was born February 1, 1977, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Jamie graduated from University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in math education. Her love for sports gave Jamie a successful softball career through college, playing for the Oklahoma Sooners. Jamie loved her profession as a math teacher and it was in the classroom where she had a profound effect on so many lives. Her greatest passion in life, however, was her role as a mommy to her precious son Gavin, and wife to her husband Justin. Jamie had an incredible devotion to and love for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Justin Smith, her son, Gavin Smith, her parents, James and Shirlee Mann Kapella of Hot Springs Village, her brother,s Chuck Kapella (Kim) of Atlanta, Ga., and Tom Kapella of La Quinta, California; her sisters, Wendy Kapella of Hot Springs Village and Stormy Holden (Nathan) of Denver, Colo.. and a large extended family including many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Frank and Margaret Kapella, Ed Mann and Marie Hucks; aunt, Phyllis Roberts, and nephew, Ayden Evans.
A memorial service for Jamie's life will be on Friday, May 24, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home, 4623 North Hwy. 7, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Pastor David Tappe will officiate the service.
