Sue Ward DeBusk

On Saturday, May 25, 2019, Sue Ward DeBusk, loving mother of two children, died peacefully in her sleep at age 87. Sue was born on May 8th, 1932 in Mayflower, Arkansas to William Monroe and Sarah (Lloyd) Ward. She grew up and attended school in Quitman, Arkansas. She moved to Little Rock after graduating High School, attended Little Rock University and married shortly thereafter. She then moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas where she started her family and enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. Sue was a woman of a million words, with a quick wit and an appetite for anything sweet and slivered many innocent sweets to their end including her famous chocolate pies. She always wore British Red polish on her fingernails and lipstick to match or else the day wouldn't be ‘just' right. Sue loved to play bridge, work jigsaw puzzles and was a voracious reader. Her endless curiosity allowed her to not only be adventurous in her love of cooking, but also instilled that curiosity and appreciation for knowledge in her children. She enjoyed speaking about her family to anyone at any time. Sue had a talent for making you feel her love for you with her constant support in anything you dreamed and accompanied that with her ‘love pats'. She could always make you smile whether or not it was intentional. She was truly one of a kind with a very dedicated heart. Leaving us, she returns to her eight siblings, Dalton, Floy, Evelyn, Geneva, Wilburn, Buster, Juanita and Bobby and loving parents who she always revered with such fondness. She is survived by her children, David Louis DeBusk Jr. (Mitzi) and Sara DeBusk Grundl (Peter), her six grandchildren, Daniel Grundl and Rachel Grundl and Sean Dudley, Peter Dudley, Asher Dudley, and Mary Arwen and six great-grandchildren, many special nieces, nephews, family and friends. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Quitman, Arkansas, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019. In her memory, please pass on a ‘love pat' to your loved ones, she would want today to be a day of love and closeness with family. Memorials can be sent to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 62 Mt. Pleasant Road, Quitman, Arkansas 72131. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home. www.olmstead.cc.
