Jerl Dene Sims

Jerl Dene Sims went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Carbon Sims; her parents, Sallye and Warner Kennedy; and her brother, Darwin Kennedy. She graduated from Camden High School and attended Arkansas State Teachers (UCA) in Conway. In later years, she took courses at Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. In Pine Bluff, she was special home writer for Pine Bluff Commercial. She was formerly a member of First Baptist Church in Arkadelphia and active in Baptist Women's Organization, OBU Women's Club, and was on the Cancer Board of Clark County. She is currently a member of First Baptist Church in Conway. Her hobbies include bridge and collecting antiques. Survivors are three children, Susan Sims Viser (Bill) of Arkadelphia; Randy Sims (Pamela) of Conway and David Sims (Ed) of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Lauren Viser of Prosper, Texas, Ryan Viser of Bossier City, La., Joshua Sims and Rebekah Sims both of Conway, Ark., Rachel Sims Miller of Cammack Village, Daniel Sims and John Sims both of North Little Rock, Ark.; six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 759 Maul Road, Camden, Ark. 71701. Dr. Bill Viser will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ouachita Baptist University, 410 Ouachita St., Arkadelphia, Ark. 71998. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
