Mildred Louise Allhands

A graveside service will be held for Ms Mildred Louise Allhands at Rose Hill Cemetery Saturday November 2, 2019 at 2 p.m. Bill Schooley and Betty McCommas will have a short message for the family and friends. Ms Allhands was born October 10, 1927 in Arkadelphia and lived there all her life except the last four years when she resided in West Monroe, La. at the Savannah Grand Memory Support location. She passed away in her sleep early on the morning of October 31, 2019. The family would like to thank and recognize the many kindnesses and loving attention given to Mildred over the years by caregivers at all levels of service from doctors and nurses and administrative to those providing for her daily needs. Mildred graduated from Henderson State Teachers College in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree. After a short teaching career she worked as a Chemical Engineer in the lab at Reynolds Aluminum for 30+ years and retired while still young to take care of an ill mother at home. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Arkadelphia. She was active in her church, various civic organizations, and an avid gardener and bird watcher. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Bliss Allhands and Beulah Beatrice Johnson Allhands; her two sisters, Beulah Beatrice Allhands Peck & Alice Mae Allhands Schooley; and three nephews, James Autrey Schooley, Jr., Sammy Roy Schooley Sr., and Danny Dean Schooley. She is survived by one niece, Beulah Beatrice Peck Engles (Trissy) of Texarkana, Texas; and one nephew, Billy Joe Schooley and wife Sharon of Calhoun, La.; as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
