Gregory T Dozier

GREGORY "GREG" T DOZIER left the world on Sunday, leaving it all the better for his precious presence if a little less fabulous in his absence. He joined his mother, Jo Dozier, who preceded him in death, and is survived by his beloved husband, Gilbert Ross Barrera II; sister, Kelli Dozier, of Seattle; father, Tee Dozier, of Columbia, Missouri; sister-in-law and niece, Mona and Preslee Barrera, of Lubbock, Texas; parents-in-law Gilbert and Bertha Barrera; his rescue dogs, Simon and Oscar; and dear and close friends as numerous as the stars in the night sky above Greg's favorite paths along Little Rock's many bridges across the Arkansas River, or the Hurricane Ridge of Olympic National Park. Born in Columbia, Miss. on April 26, 1971, Greg graduated from Rock Bridge High School in 1989 and Columbia College with a Bachelor's in Business Administration in Hotel Administration in 1997. He served as the glue of comradeship and collegiality among every circle of co-workers he blessed with his positivity, generosity, and electric smile, most recently at USAble Life Insurance where he worked since 2010. In his endless love of travel and adventure, Greg led his beloved husband and friends on cross-continental exploits whose one organizational principle was the good time guaranteed by Greg's mischievous humor, knack for the unpredictable, and addiction to fun. Greg danced through his life, but more recently took up a serious fitness habit and endurance running, completing four Little Rock Marathons. Greg radiated light and love, and made his home into a shelter for dogs, a temporary home for friends, and the best after hours-party in Pulaski County. Although selflessness and modesty often made him conceal it, Greg was also a fierce warrior, fighting throughout his journey by celebrating the life he loved surrounded by friends, family, and the pop divas who wrote the soundtrack to his life. And still, Greg had saved the best for last, and in the last week of his life, he married his beloved of nearly fifteen years, Gilbert Ross, on October 22. Among his last words were expressions of care for his dogs, "I love you," and "Beyoncé." Greg drank life to the lees, wringing more joy from his time on earth than people with twice his short forty-eight years. His loved ones are consoled by the fact that few if any lives are filled with as much light and love as Greg T Dozier's. In lieu of flowers, Greg's family has requested donations to Out of the Woods Rescue of Little Rock, PO Box 7365, Little Rock, Ark. 72217, 501-503-0606, contact@ootwrescue.org.
