It is with great sadness that the family of William "Bill" Howard Hinds announces his death. Bill was born, January 29, 1940, in Des Arc, Arkansas, to Jesse Leo and Opal Cross Hinds. He passed away, Monday, October 28, 2019, at New Orange Hills, Orange, California. His body was donated to the UCI Willed Body Program for medical research. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sandra Sellars, James Cobb and Lloyd Cobb. Bill is survived by one son, Alexander Howard Hinds; his beloved wife of 46 years, Karen, two step-sons, Jeffery and Brian Grace, and grandchildren, Aaron and Kaleb Grace; two sisters, Ruth Thomas (Tony) and Brenda Hubbard of Hot Springs, Arkansas; nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill had a love for learning. He earned a Master in History and a Bachelor of Arts from California State University. Bill graduated from Dermott High School in 1958. He retired as a Contractor in Information Technology while working at Bell Laboratory. He attained the rank of Sgt. in the Army Reserve. His unit was engaged in missile deployment. Bill was a voracious reader all his life. He was especially knowledgeable with computers and was active for many years in computer clubs. He enjoyed riding the bike trails from his home in Orange, California, to the beaches. Our hearts are full of memories of Bill's coming home: reunions, walking a sister down the aisle, rabbit hunting, and generosity. We are comforted by his love and devotion. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held in California at a later date.
