Evelyn Nellie Blume, 83, of Greenbrier, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 in her home. She was born in Sterling, Colorado, June 13, 1936. Evelyn and her survived by sister, Vivian Hendon of Conway were born to Edith Mitchell and Edwin Matoon Taylor who both preceded her in death. Evelyn's parents moved to Donald, OR in the 1940s where she graduated in 1954 at North Marian High School. In 1956 she moved to Pomona, Calif. with her sister and brother-in-law now deceased Charles Hendon where she met her future husband William (Bill) Blume whom she married in September 1956. They had four children, Gina Perkins of Conway, Caron Scott of Perryville, now deceased Vanessa Cooper formerly of Conway, and William IV of Greenbrier. Because Evelyn's husband was career Air Force they lived in many different states. She was a certified Accredited Medical Records Technician in Houston, Texas where she was the 3-11 p.m. shift Supervisor for Medical Records in the 400 bed Northwest Medical Center hospital until she retired in 1990 and became a full time R.V. traveler roaming the country and a part time antiques dealer. In 1999 Evelyn was happy to settle in Greenbrier to be near her family whom she enjoyed spending time with. She had five grandchildren, Derek and Virginia Perkins of Conway, Melissa New of Clinton, Lt. Com. Krystal Roberts of Norfolk, Va., and Shawn Fletcher of Austin, Texas. Evelyn also was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She joined the Greenbrier First United Methodist Church and became a member of the United Methodist Women's Ministry where she found pleasure serving the community with them. Funeral will be at Greenbrier First United Methodist at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 with Brother Kevin Lyon officiating. Graveside following to East Shady Grove cemetery with Sister Deanne Blume officiating.
