Patsy Ruth Sykes

PATSY RUTH SYKES, 85, of Little Rock passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019. She was born on January 25, 1934 in Des Arc, Arkansas to parents Bruce Maxwell Cummins and Nancy Grace Owens Cummins. Patsy was the last one remaining of the eleven children born to the Cummins family. Patsy was a wonderful Christian woman. She was a kind and loving wife who loved her husband, Casper "Cass" Sykes with all her heart. Also a wonderful mother to her three daughters and grandmother to her four grandchildren. Patsy was an adventurer who loved to travel and was fearless about embarking on new journeys – whether it was going on hot air balloon rides in Australia, touring Egypt or discovering the wonders in Alaska and Hawaii. She had a trip planned for Thailand and had renewed her passport just prior to her death. Patsy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Casper Sykes; daughter, Marilyn Arlene Erickson; siblings Clarence James Cummins, Cecil Everett Cummins, Martha Francis Cummins, Alice Dean Cummins, Pearl Josephine Cummins, Marie Nancy Cummins, Ola Mae Cummins, Rena Marie Cummins, William Maxwell Cummins and Dorothy Marie Cummins. Left to celebrate her memory are her daughters, Dorothy Lynne Sykes and Evelyn Gail Gilmore, grandchildren, Amanda Carullo, Ben Gilmore, Santigi Kamso and Nicole Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jeremy, Ashton, Caleb, Hannalece, Seriana and Adelynd as well as a dear niece, Lynn Snyder. A Memorial Service celebrating Patsy's life will be held on Sunday, November 17 at 1 p.m. at the Life Line Baptist Church, 7601 Baseline Rd., Little Rock with Pastor Jeff Dial officiating. Donations honoring Patsy may be made to the Arkansas Heart Association.
