George Edward Proctor of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at the age of 78. He was an avid sportsman and golfer, who won many trophies including HSV Club Championship and tied for the Mercedes-Benz Pro-Am Championship in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was a car man for Union Pacific Railroad as a write-up man for 36 years. George loved watching and coaching baseball, football and golf for many young boys and teams in Little Rock and North Little Rock. His love for sports and his ability to instruct was best demonstrated through his sons who acquired both academic and athletic scholarships to college. One of his most loved sports was thoroughbred horse racing. He was quite the gifted and knowledgeable in this sport which he had followed even in his teens. He was preceded in death his parents, Tom and Carolyn Proctor, a brother, John Albert Proctor, a nephew, Brad Cypert and a brother-in-law, Henry McPherson. His survivors include his wife of 52 years, Geneva Jo Kerr Proctor of Little Rock, Ark.; sons, Bobby (Kellie) Proctor, MD of Madison, Miss. and Drew (Gwen) Proctor, MD of Orange Beach, Ala.; granddaughters, Presley, Peighton and Isla; sister, Nancy McPherson of Sherwood, Ark.; nephews, LTC. Slade McPherson and Brady McPherson and niece, Blake Gateley. Visitation will be held at Smith Sherwood funeral home in Sherwood, Arkansas from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019. A Celebration of Mr. Proctor's life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Sylvan Hills Community Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
