Matthew Hamilton Grant, 45, of Memphis, Tenn., died November 7, 2019. Born April 22, 1974 in Little Rock, he was the son of Richard Grant and Patricia McDade-Grant.
Matthew was ambitious, hardworking and a loving brother to his younger siblings. At a young age, he had a fondness of reading and a thirst for knowledge. He graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, with a Bachelors of Science in geography. He continued his education at the University of Memphis and earned his master's in city planning. Matthew's career focused on the community and city development within Tennessee. For over 20 years, he worked for city and state government. He worked for Shelby County's Office of Planning & Development as a land-use planner and City of Memphis Housing & Community Development as a planning coordinator.
Preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Patricia. He is survived by three siblings, Jennifer Grant of New Orleans, Jonathan Grant of Rockford, Ill., and Rachel Grant of Gainesville, Fla.; his grandmother, Johnnie Henson McDade of Little Rock; great-aunt Amelia Hill of Atlanta and a host of relatives and friends.Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 16th in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock (501) 661-9111.
