Joyce Young Thrash

Joyce Young Thrash of Duncanville, Texas passed away November 16, 2019 after a long illness of pulmonary fibrosis. She was born March 21, 1936 to Ross and Ina Watson Young in Springdale, Arkansas. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Nancy DeShazo and daughter-in-law, Whitney. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Duncanville and spent many years volunteering at Methodist Charlton Hospital and Meals on Wheels. Jim & Joyce, along with friends traveled the world & she loved it, but her happiest times were the annual week at South Padre Island spent with all her family…thirteen years in a row! She cherished those weeks. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, James Thrash; sons: Steve Thrash, Greg Thrash & wife, Janelle, Tim Thrash & wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Curtis, Ryan, Austin, Sarah & Rebecca; great grandson, Dawson Thrash along with nieces, nephews and other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville. A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main St. Duncanville following a private family graveside service at Little Bethel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Duncanville.
