George Ray English, age 86, of Casa, went to be with the Lord, on Saturday, November 16, 2019, as he slept. He was born on December 10, 1932, in Plainview, to Odell and Claudia English. He served in the United States Army, which was followed by a long career as a master mechanic with various companies, and retired from the Veteran's Administration. He enjoyed spending time with family and sharing his many stories of his life adventures. He was known as "Paw Paw" to much of the family and was known for the numerous stories he told. He always had an interesting story to tell related to almost any conversation taking place in his presence. He was a master problem solver, engineering a tool or part to get the job done when something broke down. He loved to tease the great-grandkids, grandkids, and even the adult children. Paw Paw will be greatly missed by his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Wilma; two brothers, Kenneth and Donald; and his sister, June. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Wanda English of Southaven, Mississippi; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and George Lewis of Russellville and Angie Nichols and Bill Cox of Roland; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Oleta Baskin of Casa, and Brenda and Jim McCoy of Plainview; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., on Friday, November 22, 2019, at the Casa First Baptist Church, with Pastor Bill Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Casa Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 to 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
