Mava Nadine Shahan Ivie departed this life peacefully November 17, 2019 – just shy of her 98th birthday. She was born December 13, 1921 in Yocum, Ark. to Ray and Oda Shahan. She married Cargile (C.D.) Ivie February 6, 1938. Nadine was always a great lover of flowers – she enjoyed creating beautiful flower arrangements made from all types of native flowers, roses, iris, lilacs, mimosa and weeping willow branches. If there was a flower blooming – she had it in a vase on the kitchen table. She entertained the grandchildren with her exquisite talent to cut out paper doll chains. Nadine was a charter member of Freeman Heights Baptist Church – just a short walk from her house. She was an avid reader – newspaper, magazines, books and the Bible. From the years of 1990 to 2014 she read the bible thru completely 13 times! Family gatherings of any nature were a favorite time for Nadine. She routinely won games of Dominoes, Skipbo and Rook that she loved playing at the kitchen table over a cup of coffee and homecooked dessert. At some point she took pity on everyone and let the kids start winning! Her sense of humor and quick wit kept everyone on their toes. She believed in being kind to everyone and routinely saying "Thank you" for any small service. She was a genuine lady! Nadine was preceded in death by her parent, Ray and Oda Shahan, her husband of 61 years, Cargile, son, Gary Dean Ivie, brothers, Wayne and Cal Shahan and grandson, Steven Cisco.
