STEM trailblazer Alonzo "Al" Ashley transitioned to his heavenly resting place on Friday, October 4th. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Bynum Ashley; step-daughter, Kia Blair (Rick); grandchildren, Joshua and Kiana Blair; brothers, Roland (Mary) Ashley, Wendall (Elaine) Ashley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ashley received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring and other STEM awards. He created a Summer Science Research program at Stanford University helping thousands of students for 50 years.
