Mary Nell Hammons

Mary Nell Hammons, 82, of Cabot passed away from this life on Tuesday, Oct 8, 2019. She was born Thursday, August 26, 1937 in Lodges Corner, Arkansas to the late Marvel Woodrow and Ruth Lena Sweeden Gibbs. She worked as a LPN at Fort Roots VA Hospital and was a nurse for 35 years. Mary enjoyed yard sales, antiquing, crocheting, sewing and crossword puzzles. She loved fishing, vegetable gardening, taking trips to Florida and caring for her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Waymon Hammons and one grandchild, Jessie Hammons. Survivors include her children, Gary (Kim) Dickson, Penny Jones, Larry Dickson, Melinda Buchannon, Jamie (Joe) Carmical, Larry (Karen) Hammons and Johnny (Annette) Hammons; siblings, Ruth Ann Mitchell, Robert and Judy Gibbs; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sumner Cemetery.
