Al Zimmerebner, 79, of Little Rock passed away on October 11, 2019. He was born in North Little Rock, AR on June 11, 1940 to Ernest William Zimmerebner and Martha Jane (Jones) Zimmerebner. He was a Veteran of the Arkansas Air National Guard. After completing his service with the Arkansas Air National Guard, Al was hired by Arkla in an entry level position as a gas distribution apprentice and began learning the gas business from the ground up. His skills and management expertise were quickly recognized. His first supervisory position was managing the company's England, Arkansas office, and he continued into progressively larger districts including Hope, Pine Bluff and eventually the Company's then largest office in Little Rock, where he also assumed Regional Management responsibilities. Soon thereafter he became Vice-President in charge of all operations in Oklahoma. He then assumed the VP of Operations in Shreveport for Arkla's Louisiana and East Texas facilities. Following a merger which added additional Texas properties including the city of Houston to the Company, he was named VP of Operations for the greater Houston area. In moving from an entry level position to being the officer overseeing the largest operation in the Company, Al was known for his strong managerial skills. His life was filled with other interest including hunting, golf, fishing, horse racing and if you were risky-poker. His love of travel with the love of his life, Debbie, was his biggest passion. He is survived by his wife Debbie Zimmerebner of Little Rock whom he married on October 22, 1983, which would have been thirty-six years of love; daughters, Cindy Johnson of Albuquerque, NM, Sandra Bishop of Ft. Myers, FL; granddaughters, Jessica Johnson, Shelly Johnson and Sarah Johnson; brother, David Zimmerebner (Debby) of Maumelle, Ark. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ernie Zimmerebner and sister, Johnnie Frances Iburg. A Celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15th in the Little Rock Funeral Home Reception Center with Reverend Mary Hilliard officiating. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., (501)224-2200. Al's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
