William Marvin Glisson

William "Bill" Marvin "Chicken Hawk" Glisson, Jr., 69, of Hot Springs passed away October 7, 2019. A gifted musician, he was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1950- the same year and city where Sun Studio began recording what would later be recognized as the first Rock-n-Roll records. No one is sure if it is a coincidence. Bill was a well-loved local singer and guitar player with his band, Belaire Buffs. He also led music at his church and had just begun a musical ministry with Jerry Greer at the Garland County Detention Center. The ability of music to teach and to heal was embraced by Bill who truly loved people. After retiring from his 34 year career at AT&T, he was able to devote more time to music, as well as, hunting, fishing, watching the Green Bay Packers, and keeping up with his "Oaklawn News and Notes" Facebook Page. However, his retirement was especially about spending time with those who called him Po-Po (sometimes Pokey Po-Po) - his grandkids. Alexa, Jayden, Tommy, Hunter, Aubrey, and Brantley will never question how very much their Po-Po loved them. Bill will be missed by his wife of 37 years, Debbie Glisson; sons, Eric (Marcah) Glisson and Zachary (Kelly) Glisson; daughter by luck, Dawn Hall; six amazing grandkids; brothers, Steve (Jennifer) Glisson and Mike (VeeAnn) Glisson; sisters, Diana Drost and Patsy Cleveland; stepfather, Pat Patterson; cat buddy, Zo; the most current Mr. Fishy; many much loved nieces and nephews; and more friends than any one person should legally be allowed to have. A Celebration of Bill's Life will be Saturday, October 19 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Gross Funeral Home.
