Michael David Murphy

Michael David Murphy, 81, of Arkadelphia, went to be with the Lord October 13, 2019. He was born on November 8, 1937, in Everett, Wash. to Jerry and Louise Murphy. After graduating from Everett High School Michael served in the Air Force as a jet mechanic. After leaving the air force he earned a Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno. He taught psychology at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark. from 1975 to 1997. Serving as the chairman of the psychology department for part of that time. He also taught briefly at Ouachita Baptist University after retiring from Henderson. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Irene Murphy; three daughters, Kathleen Murphy; Kimberly McCall (husband, Sam); Mary Lett (husband, Jeff) and brother, Jerry Murphy (wife, Arlene).
