Janet Ruth Fisher

Janet Ruth Fisher, 79, of Little Rock passed from this world on Monday, October 14, 2019. The daughter of Marvin Ray Adams and Ruth Kays Adams, she was born August 30, 1940, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She graduated Fayetteville High School in 1958 and enrolled in William Mary University. In 1959 Janet married Charles White Guise and transferred to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she earned her Bachelor's degree. Together, Janet and Charles had four children. Janet was a strong and intelligent woman. When her marriage ended, she went on to earn a Masters of Nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences while simultaneously working full time and raising four children on her own. Later in life, she went on to complete a Masters of Business Administration at Webster University. Janet held a number of different jobs in her life including wife, mother, and nurse. She loved being a nurse and spent the entirety of her career taking care of others. Janet worked at St. Vincent's Hospital, Baptist Hospital, and UAMS in Little Rock before joining AP&L as an EH&S occupational nurse. She later joined the VA hospital, where she eventually retired. In 1976 Janet married Robert Fisher. They had a joyful marriage that lasted for 30 years until his death. Janet was a gifted pianist and enjoyed playing for her children and grandchildren while they sat on her lap. In her later years she enjoyed playing for the residents where she lived. Even as she struggled with the effects of Alzheimer's disease, the music still flowed beautifully from her hands and her heart. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Janet is survived by her brother, Alan Adams (Virginia); three sisters, Anne Eddy (Ron), Camille Talburt (Dwight), and Cheryl Yates; three sons, Adam Guise, Ben Guise (Sherri Jo), Matthew Guise (Alexandra); daughter, Ruth Guise-McDonough. Additional survivors include 8 grandchildren; Emily McDonough, Russell McDonough, Ellie McDonough, Will McDonough, Eli Guise, Taylor Guise, Hannah Guise, and Robert Guise. She also had one great-grandchild, Aurora Guise. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 9301 N Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72227.
