MORRIS EDWARD PETTEY, 91, of North Little Rock passed from this life to the next on October 18, 2019. He was born to the late John Grady and Gracie Pearl (Minton) on September 3, 1928 in Hazen, Ark. Morris met the love of his life, Dorothy Pettey, when he was just ten years old and they married years later in 1953. Together they raised their family in North Little Rock. Morris was a very hardworking man and would do whatever was necessary to support his family. Along with his regular jobs, he was a preacher working with small congregations for over twenty years. After he retired, he began working as a volunteer until he was 89 years old. He was most proud of his volunteer service in North Little Rock assisting Judge Hamilton in the court system. He was recognized twice by being awarded Volunteer of the Year for the city of North Little Rock. He was a long-time member of Levy Church of Christ and served as a deacon for several years. Morris was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Morris is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Dorothy Pettey; his parents; and his brothers: Virgil Pettey, Curtis Pettey, and John Pettey. Morris is survived by his three children: Ronald Pettey (Cheri) of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Janis Huey (David) of Maumelle, Arkansas, and Michael Pettey (Dona) of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one grandson, Lee Pettey (Mary Beth); two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Autumn; sisters: Ann Synco of Stuttgart, Arkansas and Sue Fauth (Herb) of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Sherry Pettey; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 9-10 a.m., at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral service, officiated by Hugh Hale, will follow at 10 a.m. Burial at Center Point Cemetery in Hazen, Arkansas following at 2 p.m. Arrangements by Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home.
