Samuel McGowan

SUPT. DR. SAMUEL MCGOWAN, 84, of Little Rock, Ark., went to be with his Lord on October 15, 2019. He was born on February 17, 1935 in Gunnersville, Ala., to Rufus and Ollie McGowan. Supt. McGowan was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Maurice McGowan, a granddaughter, Amanda Anderson and a great-grandson, Bryson Thomas. After Graduating from Dunbar High School, Supt. McGowan served in the Army as a medical specialist. He earned a master's in theology from Bismore School of Theology and a Doctor of Theology from CHMS Bible College, serving as an instructor and on the Board of Directors. He was a pastor for over 40 years at Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ and Coulter Temple Church of God in Christ. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mother Ruby J. McGowan; daughters, Bernice (George) Jackson, Ollie (Gary) Anderson, Carolyn L. McGowan, Sandra (Vernon) Thomas, Pamela (Courtney) Robinson; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Herbert (Jesse) McGowan, Jimmy McGowan of Los Angeles, CA and Supt. William E. (Doris) McGowan; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends A Celebration of Life will be held 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2019, at Holy Temple Cathedral COGIC, 1322 Pulaski Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72202. 501-372-8662. Funeral service will also be held at Holy Temple Cathedral COGIC at 11 a.m., on Saturday, October 26, 2019. Interment will be at Little Rock National Cemetery, 2523 Springer Blvd., Little Rock on Monday, October 28th at noon.
