Marjorie Carol Dougherty Mayo passed away peacefully at her home in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Margie was born in Potosi, Missouri to Luther Andrew and Thelma Storey Dougherty. She was raised in Blytheville, Arkansas. A graduate of Blytheville High School, Margie attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She held degrees from Emory and Henry and the University of Arkansas. Margie and William Bert Mayo were married for 62 happy years. They had no children but were "parents" to three devoted dogs. Margie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Dean Dougherty. She is survived by her husband, Bill; two sisters, Marilyn Stires (Sonny) of Vista, California, and Sandy Rodgers (Ronnie) of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and one sister-in-law, Ruby Dougherty (Dean) of Irmo, South Carolina. Surviving also are beloved nieces, nephews and spouses: Denise Stires and Julie Preston (Ron) of California; Ricky, Kenny and Brian Dougherty of South Carolina; and Rachel Mardis (Mike) and Blake Rodgers (Vanessa) of Arkansas. A number of adored grand and great grand nieces and nephews are also survivors. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 26th at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
