Michael "Mike" Eugene Carroll, 72, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, September 2nd after years of battling Rheumatoid Arthritis. Mike was born in Little Rock, Ark on April 2, 1947 to Heber Carroll and Wanda (Johnston) Carroll. He gratulated from Hall High School in 1965 and continued his education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville receiving a degree in Business. Mike also attended law school at U of A for a short period of time and is a veteran of the United States Army. In October of 1973 Mike met his wife Rosemary and the two were married on November 22, 1980 marking this year as being their 39th wedding anniversary. In 1975, Mike and Rosemary opened Carroll's Square on Kavanaugh in Little Rock. While Carroll's Square was really more of a rectangle, the store featured a collection of gift and craft shops featuring merchandise made by local artists. After Carroll's Square closed, Mike transitioned in to sales with Healthtex Clothing and eventually TMC Communications. On May 16, 1983, Mike and Rosemary welcomed their daughter Crista. Being a loving and devoted husband and father was one of most cherished and important parts of his life. In 1995, Mike accepted the position of Director of Telecommunications for the Eastern United States at WorldCom in Tulsa, Okla. where the family continued to reside. While Mike may have moved to Oklahoma he never stopped calling the Hogs (Woo Pig Sooie!). Mike enjoyed cooking, grilling, camping and fishing, and trips to Eureka Springs. He will be remembered for his wonderfully unique sense of humor, his witty one-liners, and of course his dedication to his family as a beloved husband, father, son, and uncle. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Heber and Wanda Carroll and sister, Genie Mauro. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary and his daughter and son-in-law Crista and Kirby Kiefer. A memorial service has been scheduled for 2 p.m. on September 5th at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Tulsa, Okla. A graveside service will also be held on September 7th at 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Bryant, Ark. (well in advance of the 6:30 p.m. kickoff of Arkansas vs. Ole Miss as Mike would not have wanted people to miss the game). In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can also be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, Help Fight RA. Everyone who remembers Mike is asked to celebrate his life in their own way and raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory would certainly be appropriate.
