MSG James Alvin Stamford, 76 of Springdale died Friday, August 30, 2019. He was born December 2, 1942 in Washington DC the son of Alvin and Lillian Stamford. He retired from the US Army after 22 years of service having served during the Vietnam Era and the Korean conflict. He was a member of the New Hope Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Betty Stamford; daughters, Elizabeth McKnight and Eva Thomas; sons, Steven, Joe and Mathew Chinault; sisters, Livia Harris and Lynett Worth; brother, Lynn Matise; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many other family members. A Memorial service with full Military Honors will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Fayetteville National Cemetery with Pastor James Longmate officiating. The Patriot Guard Riders will escort family from Springdale to the National Cemetery.
