Loretta Gibson

Loretta Lee Gibson passed on September 10, 2019, in Fayetteville, Ark., from end stage liver disease. Loretta was born January 13, 1958, in Forrest City, Ark., to William Edward Gibson and Neva Buchanan Gibson. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1976, attended the University of Arkansas, and worked in the corporate headquarters of Tyson Foods in Springdale for 30 years. From a young age Loretta was an "animal person", bonding first with the loyal family dog Smokey; and then later caring for and riding several horses owned by the Gibson Family. She forged a special bond with Miss Priss, Rocket, and the mighty-but-gentle Bourbon Red. In her later years, she loved and was loved by several generations of felines, including Sydney, Callie, Twiggy, Oscar, and Simon. She enjoyed CNN, Animal Planet, and National Geographic magazine. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister, Neva Jean. She is survived by her brother, Paul Gibson (Cross Roads, Texas); sister, Marianne Baxter (Fayetteville, Ark.); nieces Deidre Leonard (Fayetteville, Ark.); Marinda Baxter (Estes Park, Colo.); Laura Lyons (Knoxville, Tenn.); nephew, Dr. Matthew Lyons (Memphis, Tenn.); grandnephew, Jack Leonard (Fayetteville, Ark.); and grandnieces, Katie Jane Leonard and Charlotte Rose Leonard (Fayetteville, Ark.).
