Marilyn Joyce (Henry) Cummings, devoted grandmother, dedicated and supportive mother, and loving wife of 56 years, went to be with Christ on September 15th, 2019. She was born in Bell Gardens, California January 15, 1944, to the late Marion and Opal Henry. Marilyn and her husband Charles met when she visited a high school friend in central Arkansas, and, almost immediately in love, were married on September 21, 1963. Most of her working career revolved around the family transportation businesses, which she did while raising four boys. She was a member of Brockington Road Church of the Nazarene (formerly NLR First Church of the Nazarene) for 56 years. She served on the South Arkansas District Nazarene Missions International Council for 34 years, and served as co-chair with her husband, Charles, as Brockington Road Church of the Nazarene's Missionary President for 11 years. Marilyn's passion was serving others, and over the years, she did so in many ways: participating in mission trips, leading Sunday School classes and children's church, volunteering at Vacation Bible School, organizing meals, visiting and caring for those in the hospital, and volunteering at Grace Church of the Nazarene's Food Pantry on Thursday nights. She tirelessly assisted wherever she was needed. Marilyn had a true servant's heart, was a sacrificial worker, and was fiercely dedicated to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Marilyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Henry and Don Henry. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles; sons, David (Tina), Gary (Christi), Craig (Tanya), Keith (LaNese); grandchildren, Chris (Brittany), Amanda, Kaylin (Benjie), Nathan, Luke, Sydney, Lynlee and Colton. She also had many nieces, nephews and other extended family, who she loved dearly. Memorials may be made to Brockington Road Church of the Nazarene, for the purpose of World Missions Work & Witness Fund. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Brockington Road Church of the Nazarene, 9860 Brockington Rd., Sherwood, Arkansas 72120. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2019 at the church. Entombment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. Online guest register at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
