Danny Ray Bickerstaff entered into eternal life on September 14, 2019 in Forrest City, Ark. at the age of 70. He was born March 17, 1949 at the family home in Parkin, Ark. to Carl Benton and Lorane Lydia Belle Bickerstaff (Westmoreland). He is survived by his wife Donna Bickerstaff; two daughters; Renee Gray (Greg) of Wynne, Ark., Jennifer Simmering of Wynne, Ark. and a son; Jeff Bickerstaff (Courtney) of Benton, Ark.; two sisters; Martha Jane "Sister" LaGrone (Carroll) of Caldwell, Ark. and Jackie Sue Key (Wesley) of Mountain Home, Ark. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lorane Bickerstaff and brother; Samie Carl Bickerstaff, MSGT-Ret ( US Air Force - Vietnam Veteran). Danny was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. He was a professional truck driver until he felt a need to serve his community. On June 28, 1976, he joined the Forrest City Police Department as a Patrolman to fill that need. It was not a surprise to most since law enforcement officers and military veterans were deeply rooted in his family. He served over 20 years and retired as a shift Sergeant assigned to the Patrol Division. After being in retirement for a number of years, he continued his service with the St. Francis County Sheriff's Department as a Patrol Deputy for several years. He also served a number of years as a volunteer firefighter and eventually Chief with the Caldwell Fire Department. Visitation and Service will both be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Visitation will begin at Noon and Service at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Crittenden memorial park in Marion. Online condolences can be made at www.rollerfunerhomes.com/westmemphis.
