Dolly Kay Mayes

Dolly Kay Mayes, Nee' DeCoursey, died Sunday, September 8, 2019. She was born in Chicago, Ill., August 20th, 1937 to Leonard and Ellen (Scott) De Coursey. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Mitchell, grandson, Ashton, and her beloved cat April. She is survived by husband, Carl L. Mayes; daughters, Jessamyn Goodwin, Ellen Mayes and Peri Mayes, grandchildren Lacy, Shea and Logan, and dear friend Sally Richard-Singh. Dolly was a medical technologist who loved art, nature, animals and intellectual discussions. She was fiercely intelligent and well before her time in her passion for social justice and protecting the environment. Dolly Kay was loved more than she knew and will be missed. But, we will see her again in that better place where all is known at last. A Silent Memorial Service will be held at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 901 West Cleveland St., Fayetteville on Sept. 27, from 5-7 p.m. Online condolences www.WestfieldChapel.com.
