Lester Thomas, 95, of Stuttgart passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019 at St. Vincent's hospital in Little Rock. Lester was born June 9, 1924 in Texas to the late William Brady and Birdie Woods Thomas. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John Larry Thomas, and daughter, Lesli Paige Thomas Brittain; brother, Charley Thomas; and sisters, Margaret Thomas Dismuke, Jewell Thomas Britt, and Pauline Thomas Parker. Survivors are his wife of 73 years, Lou Veda Cotner Thomas; daughter, Sandra Brothers (Mike) of Stuttgart; brother, Harold Thomas of Little Rock; grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Brothers, Mark (Holly) Brothers, Matthew (Heather) Brothers, Brady Brittain, and Adria Brittain; and great-grandchildren, Marlee Brothers, Philip Brothers, Noah Brothers, Andrew Brothers, and Lyla Brothers. Lester received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1946. He was a member of Corporal Company C, 51st Armored Infantry Battalion where he received the EAME theater ribbon and four bronze service stars, a World War II Victory Ribbon, and a Good Conduct Medal. Lester opened Thomas' Barber Shop in 1949 in Stuttgart and recently celebrated his 70th year in business. Over the years he enjoyed visiting with all his customers, and always asked if he could give them a flat top. Visitation will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Services will be officiated by Harley Petty.
