Solon Edward Johnson

Solon Edward Johnson, 97, of Bryant, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning September 22, 2019. Solon was born on April 24, 1922, in Floyd, Arkansas to George Andrew and Martha Bertie Bradbury Johnson who preceded him in death. After high school graduation Solon entered the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II in battle on the Philippines. Shortly after his discharge Solon developed polio, a battle he struggled with and conquered. On July 15, 1949, Solon married Mildred McKenney. They were married 60 wonderful years until her death in 2010. He is survived by their three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Rick Lafferty, Phyllis and Paul Shelby and Robbye and Rhett Folse, all of Bryant. He was PaPa to his six grandchildren Chad Folse and Griggs Folse, Lindsay McCoy and Leslie Smith and Seth Shelby and Alison Suitor and 13 great-grandchildren. Solon was a faithful member of Geyer Springs Baptist Church for over 60 years, where he and his wife made many lasting friendships. Solon was a man of God, his faith was strong and his counsel was wise. He had wonderful healthy gardens and beautiful flowers for many years. Oh the delicious tomatoes he grew! Solon was always a good neighbor and made many friendships he cherished over the years. Funeral will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 26, 2019, Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, Arkansas, with burial in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before service.
