Steven McKay Schratz, 63, of Maumelle, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019, peacefully in his sleep at home with his beloved fiancée, Jan Stafford. Steve is survived by his parents, Dr. Bruce and Georgia Schratz of Little Rock; by his sons, Ryan and Jason Schratz of St. Louis, Mo.; by his siblings Bruce Schratz, Jr. (Cindy) of Little Rock, Jim Schratz of St. Louis, Joe Schratz (Kellie) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Alan Schratz of Little Rock and Diane Schratz (Jonathan) of Little Rock; and by the joy and pride of his life, grandson Chase McKay Schratz of St. Louis. Steve is also survived by his uncle and aunts, Tom and Neida Hill of Little Rock, and Kaye Schratz of Little Rock, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve was a graduate of Catholic High School and earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Arkansas. He began his career with AP&L before moving into the pharmaceutical and medical sales industries. In retirement, Steve was up before the dawn, with a cup of coffee and daily crossword puzzle in hand. He enjoyed watching the river and wildlife from his back deck, except when he was watching the Cardinals play or calling the Hogs. He was a jack-of-all-trades, and there was nothing he couldn't fix. He was content having a new project or tinkering around to improve old ones. And he was a damn good farkle player, too. However, his greatest joy was time spent with family with his "Lisa Jan" by his side. The family would like to thank the many physicians and their staff who cared for Steve, including Dr. Don Greenway, Dr. Brad Baltz, Dr. Rhonda Gentry, Dr. Kenneth Johnston, Dr. Gail McCracken and Dr. Tim Burson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, at 6 p.m., with a rosary following at 7 p.m. A Memorial Mass will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Monsignor Francis I. Malone as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic High School for Boys, Christ the King Catholic Church or The Centers for Youth & Families.
