Robert Wayne Mitchell of Grady, Arkansas was born December 12, 1956 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He passed away at his home on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the age of 62.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Iris Simpson Mitchell and his father, John Sidney Mitchell. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Angie Bitely Mitchell; two children, Hannah Barajas and husband, Roy, and Lukus Mitchell. He leaves behind two precious grandchildren, Grace and Isaac, his favorite sister, Marilyn Mitchell Ridge and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wayne was a 1974 graduate of Watson Chapel Academy. He enjoyed farming and working at Wolfe Athletic Goods prior to starting his 38-year career with Arkansas Power & Light and Middle South Utilities, now Entergy Services, Inc.
Wayne was an active member of Linwood Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and treasurer. Truly having a servant's heart, he loved cooking and sharing that bounty with family, friends and medical personnel on his many office visits.
He served as a member, president, and treasurer for the Linwood/Moscow Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. He had also coached baseball for the Pine Bluff Lawn and Leisure team in his younger years.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Linwood Baptist Church located on Highway 65 at Moscow. A time of visitation will be prior to the service at 9 a.m. For online condolences, please visit FullerFunerals.com.
