Loretta Chandler

Loretta Chandler, 90, of Sylvan Hills passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019. She was born December 6, 1928 to the late Benny and Marguerite Jenkins in Brownsville, Texas. Soon after her birth, her family moved to Cabot, Arkansas where she was raised and graduated from high school. She graduated from Hendrix College, and took time to raise her family before beginning her career as a teacher. She had a passion for art, quilting, sewing, and knitting. She served as an Art teacher at Sylvan Hills High School for over 20 years. Loretta was known to be reading multiple books at once, always keeping her hands busy, and loved spending time outdoors. She was a long time member of Sylvan Hills 1st Baptist Church. To her many close family and friends she was affectionately known as PawPaw. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kennard H. Chandler, Jr.; son, Ken H. Chandler, III; and her sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Chandler. She is survived by her daughter, LouAnn (Pat) Howell; daughter-in-law, Ruth Chandler; grandchildren, Ruth Anne (Clint), Emily (Austin) and Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ella; bonus daughter, Emily Hartsfield (Big Em); and many very special quilting, camping, square dancing and lifelong friends. Family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., Friday September 27, 2019 at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Mt.
