Chris J. (Smith) Evans Chambers

Chris J. (Smith) Evans Chambers, 58, passed away on September 24, 2019 in Joplin. She was born on December 27, 1960 in Lake Charles, La., to Lorren Smith and Doris (Roberts) Clark. She was the loving wife of 25 years to James Chambers. In her younger years, she worked at Walmart in the warehouse. One day her line was not prepped for workers and an older man came along and asked if she needed help, she said, "Yes, start putting boxes on the line for my crew." That person was Sam Walton. She was such a wonderful person, with a gift for listening and a heart for giving. This was apparent when strangers would to talk to her about their lives wherever she went. Chris was a very caring woman who always had time for others. She volunteered at the Benton County Women's Shelter for many years. Chris is survived by her husband Jim of Missouri; mother, Doris Clark and her husband, Larry of Missouri; children, Jennifer Wyman of Sulphur Springs, Cliff Chambers of New Jersey, Amanda Uranga of Missouri, and Jason Chambers of Missouri; sisters, Karen Merseal of Holiday Island, Cathy McGarrah of Marble and Michelle Templeton of Bentonville; brothers, Richard Smith of Rogers and Reese Smith of Marble; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. Online condolences can be made at www.rollinsfuneral.com.
