Dana J. Walker went to meet his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 22, 2020, in Mississippi doing something he loved, turkey hunting. The devoted outdoorsman, Dana found comfort in nature's beauty which supported and nurtured his love of hunting, fishing and observing all types of wildlife. Dana is preceded in death by his beloved father, Gerald Walker and step-mother, Anne Walker. He is survived by his dearly loved brother, John Walker and beloved sister-in-law, Lisa, mother, Noele Cain, a sister, Tempe Walker and step-brother Gary Gibson; his wife of seventeen years, Julie Cheek Walker, daughter, Olivia Greer, and animal loved ones Emma, Archie, Joy, Ottie and Zora. His nieces and nephew were dear to his heart and he loved them deeply as his own: Kellie, Shelby, Lauren and Micah, children of Johnny and Lisa. Great nieces and nephews include: Carter, Peyton and Colton. Niece Tiffany Shelton and her son Oliver, and nephew Justin Smith. He is also survived by a paternal aunt, Captain Joy Walker of Georgia. Dana was a devoted man of the Catholic Faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, classical music, smooth jazz/rhythm and blues, and other genres of music. He loved to share stories, music and videos with many friends and his family. One of his favorite and most familiar rooms was the kitchen where he created many delicious meals and found great joy in serving those he cared for, and many he didn't even know. For decades his professional career followed his desire to help others as a well-respected R.N. For many years, his specialty was neo-natal work where he saved the lives of many newborn babies. Those he lost he carried with him always, never forgetting a single one. So many different roads and experiences filled Dana's life, it's impossible to recount all of them here. Those of us who knew him know that he lived his life in a big way, loving his people and animals to the very end. We will all remember Dana as someone who never met a stranger! Due to the COVID-19 restrictions on funerals, a service will be held for family and friends when circumstances allow.
